First Nation Group is proud to introduce November’s Employee Spotlight, Marian Olson! Marian plays a key role on the First Nation Group team as our Project Manager. On a day off, you will most likely find Marian reading, going to the beach, or spending time with her grandchildren!
Those that know Marian would describe her as kind and dedicated. Marian is a hard-working team player who is always willing to lend a hand, making it unsurprising that she excels in her work and continues to help First Nation Group grow. Learn more about Marian below:
What is your most memorable vacation or trip to date?
My trip to Africa. We flew to Cape Town and visited wineries and swam with great white sharks – we were in a dive cage, so not quite as daring as it sounds. We then flew to Botswana and from there we drove to Zimbabwe. While on the drive, we stopped at Elephant Sands. We camped there for a few days, but really it was glamping. Elephants would walk right past our tents to get to the watering hole there. It was truly amazing! We ended our trip in Zimbabwe and took a helicopter ride over Victoria Falls. It truly was a trip of a lifetime!
Do you have a charity that is near and dear to your heart? Who and why?
Catholic Charities of NW Florida – their ministry has a diverse outreach, and I feel that my contributions, along with the First Nation Group match, reach a wide range organizations and people in need.
What do you love most about First Nation Group?
That my voice matters.
What advice would you give to a new hire at First Nation Group?
That they have made the best decision of their life. First Nation Group isn’t hype, it’s real. It really is a for profit company with a charitable heart.
What is a stand-out memory from working at First Nation Group?
The National Veterans Wheelchair Games (NVWG) in Orlando! It was life changing for me, my husband, and my granddaughter.
What are three words you would use to describe First Nation Group?
Caring, Giving, and Family.
“Marian is one of a kind! She is extraordinarily proficient at quickly understanding technically difficult contracting requirements, bottom lining it, and ensuring First Nation Group quickly puts its best foot forward to get an award. She knows First Nation Group inside and out, knows how to get things done internally, and is regularly lauded by Government Contracting Officers and Contracting Officer Representatives as being a spectacular representative of First Nation Group. She is so focused on our mission. Her integrity, empathy, and overall awesomeness motivate me to be better every day!”
